If you are bored with hustle and bustle of city life and looking for some relaxation amidst the serene beauty of Nature, than you must head to Yelagiri hills in Tamil Nadu.

Perched at an altitude of 1, 410 m above the sea level, Yelagiri is one such picturesque place in the southern peninsula where you can see Mother Nature at her best. Bedecked with breathtaking scenic views and quaint villages, this hill station is an ideal summer gateway of India.

Unlike Ooty and Kodaikanal hill station of the state, Yelagiri is blessed with pleasant climate throughout the year. Temperature of this summer retreat never exceeds 38 degree centigrade during summer season and gradually lowers down to minimum of 12 degree centigrade during December andd January.

Charms of Yelagiri:
Also known as Javvadhu hills, Yelagiri has numerous charms which will surely captivate your attention at the very first glimpse. One of the least polluted vacation destinations of our country, Yelagiri is an ideal place to trekking and boating.

- Punganoor Lake:
Punganoor Lake in Yellagiri town is a small artificial lake. This lake is best for boating. You can choose between a rowboat and a pedal boat to enjoy the scenic beauty in and around the lake. A beautiful Mughal garden is built around the lake which is embellished with many interesting games like sliding for the smaller kids.

- Velvan Temple:
Velvan temple is other prime attraction for tourists in Yelagiri. Dedicated to Lord Murugan, this temple is construction atop a hillock, with a giant statue of Gadothgajan in front. During the months of July-August, colorful festivals are organized at the temple premise. These festivals very well displays the vibrant culture of the region.

- Swamimalai Hill:
It is another lustrous tourist spot in Yelagiri. Positioned at a height of 4,338 ft, Swamimalai hill is a great fun to climb on hilltop as it provides you a splendid view of the valley from the top. This hill is an ideal trekking destination. The cool months of November- January are best for trekking in this hill.

- Jalagamparai Waterfalls:
The cascading Jalagamparai waterfall, located at an hour's trek from Yelagiri is very famous among lovebirds. Created by the Attaru river, which flows through the Yelagiri hills, Jalagamparai waterfalls is a beautiful spot for picnic.

- Best Time To Visit:
Yelagiri is one such holiday destination of India which can be visited any time of the year. Throughout the year, climate of this pristine hill station remains pleasant.

- Accommodations: Yelagiri Tamilnadu
Although Yelagiri hill station is an offbeat holiday destination, but it has no dearth of accommodation facilities within its territory. Most of the hotels and resorts of the town are built amidst the eye-catching sceneries. Some of the most famous and well-equipped hotels and resorts of the town are Hotel Hills, Taj Garden Resort, Hotel Yelagiri and Hotel Nigress.

Access To Yelagiri Hill Station:
- By Air : The nearest airport to Yelagiri are at Chennai and Bangalore, which are internationally connected to most cities of the world.

- By Road : Vacationers can also opt for surface transport to reach Yelagiri. From Jolarpettai, both buses and cabs are available, which regularly runs from Jolarpettai to Yelagiri. From Chennai, you can also reach to Yelagiri via road. It is just 4-5 hours drive from Chennai.

- By Rail : Jolarpettai railway junction is the closest railway station to Yelagiri. Almost every train that plies between Bangalore and Chennai stops at Jolarpet Junction. Best trains are Kovai Express, Brindavan Express and Intercity.
