Trek to Naneghat

Trek to Naneghat - BindaasTravel.com

Naneghat offers different beauty in different seasons. In summer and winter, when there are no clouds, view of Jivdhan and Dhakoba is a real pleasure.

The walls of this pass jut out from the main range and hence command a magnificent view of the great bend in the Sahyadri. This is a pass, which once in history, enjoyed prime importance. The inscriptions, the steps, the rock-cut rest houses, and the cisterns all point out the historic fact that this route was frequently used as far back as the 1st century B.C. The Nane Ghat area and the caves are now very popular due to an easy access from Malshej ghat road.

Naneghat is now a highway with arrow marks indicating the way every few metres, oh so... a well marked highway, just unmetalled albeit. It was just a couple of hours and we saw ourselves in the fabulous cave keeping a keen eye near the top. A look around the cave barely lasted few minutes (as all of us having already seen the cave number of times earlier).

How to Reach :-

Nane Ghat is situated at about 55 Km from Kalyan. One can reach the base village Vaishakare by boarding the state transport bus passing through Malshej Ghat. From Vaishakare it's about 1/2 a hour walk along the road to Malshej Ghat to reach the divergence for Nane Ghat. Now there is board indicating the divergence so there will be no difficulty in finding the divergence. Once a divergence is taken, it is about 2-3 hours climb to the summit.
