Fort Lohagad is a wonderful monument of Pune that throws light on the rich architectural skills of the ancient period. The fort is named after the spiritual leader, Lomesh. This fort has a major historical significance and was built in order to observe the activities of Andhra Maval, Nane Maval and Korbaarse Maval. After Bahmani kingdom lost its control, Nizamshahi captured this fort.

A beautiful lake surrounds the fort. Ganesh Darwaaja, Narayan Darwaaja, Hanuman Darwaaja and Maha Darwaaja are some of the splendid gates of the fort, of which Hanuman Darwaaja is the oldest one. This fort belongs to the Satwaahan Period. There is a big cave outside this fort that was used to store grains during the rainy season.

How to Reach :-

Reach Lonavala by Indrayani or Deccan Express in the morning.
Come to Malavali by local train. Walk for Bhaje village. Reach Bhaje caves within 15 minutes. Have a lunch there and leave for Lohgad.
