Tibet is located 470 km from Bhutan at an altitude of 4000m. The capital of Tibet is called Lhasa. The best time to visit this place is between April and November. It is called the Roof of the world. Winter lasts from October to May or June. The best time to visit Tibet is during July and August as the temperature is warm during this time. It is the time for sunshinefestivals and scenic beauty.


You can reach Tibet by air. To reach Lhasathe Tibetan capital you need to start from Chengdu in SichuanXining in Qinghai or Kathmandu in Nepal. It is easy to get ticket from Chengdu. The journey is for two hours. From Kathmandu also you can take a flight to Lhasa. The flight journey lasts for around one hour and a little more. By road it will take you around a minimum of 2 nights and 3 days. The bus journey is from Xining Qinghai via Golmud to Lhasa along the Qinghai Tibet Highway.

What to Carry

If you are going during May and October than you need light warm clothes and not very heavy woolen clothes but if you have plans to visit during November to April than you need heavy woolen clothes or warm layered clothes and jackets.

Best season to visit Tibet is from the end of March to end of November each year. After November the temperature gets really cold and flights also do not operate during this period. You should have a visa to travel to Tibet.
