Temghar Dam, is a earthfill and gravity dam on Mutha river near Mulashi in state of Maharashtra in India. The storage capacity of Temghar dam, Temghar Dam near Lavasa one of the four major dams that supply water to Pune city, has increased by 1.5 thousand million cubic (One TMC is equal to 28,31,70,00,000 litres). The irrigation department has increased the height of the dam by 10 metres, making the additional water available for Puneites.
Ankush Wable, deputy engineer of the irrigation department, said, "The height of the dam is now 87 metres and has augmented the storage capacity by 1.5 TMC." A V Surve, superintending engineer, Pune irrigation circle, confirmed that the additional water will be utilised for Pune city. Surve, however, asserted that "more water does not mean waste water".
