San Marcos Cathedral

San Marcos Cathedral - BindaasTravel.com

The credit for the designing of San Marcos Cathedral goes to Alexandre Gustav Eiffel. The San Marcos Cathedral is situated on the Plaza Colon in the Arica City. The cathedral as it stands today is the replication of the original building that was damaged in an earthquake that shook the place in 1888.

The cathedral in pink and white is a distinguishing landmark of the tiny town of Arica. It is a brilliant manifestation of the historic architecture of Chile. Once you step into the San Marcos Cathedral, you will be enthralled by its interiors.

The central area of the cathedral and the vault are wonderful specimens of Gothic architecture. In close proximity to the San Marcos Cathedral stands the Culture Museum whose construction is also credited to Alexandre Gustav Eiffel.

The white and pink facade of the building is a landmark in the small town of Arica. The church is a specimen of the lovely historic architecture of Chile. The interiors of the San Marcos Cathedral are awe-inspiring. A vault and a nave are built inside in typically Gothic style.
