Pokhara is the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu. Its flame rests on the natural beauty of its lakeside location and its proximity to the mountains, not on any great historical or cultural endowment, it is the starting point for some of the most famous treks in Nepal. And there are also plenty of short walks and day trips, suitable for children and weary trekkers that can be made around valley.

More than 65% of the total trekkers of Nepal trek in Annapurna region. It is only 35 minutes flight and 6 hours drive from the capital city Kathmandu. There are around 25 flights and several deluxe tourist bus services daily. There are hundreds of tourist standard hotels including non star to five star levels. All kinds of tourist facilities such as, foreign currency exchange, ACAP entry permit, visa extension, flight ticket reconfirmation etc. are available in this multi - cultural city.

This city popularly known as "City of Tourism" is absolutely free from any type of pollution.For those seeking short and relatively easy trekking at warmer, lower elevations, there are a few options available, although these former treks have been modified by new roads, making them more suitable as day hike areas.Situated at the lap of amazing Annapurna Himal, Pokhara is situated 198 km west from Kathmandu. It is the largest town in central Nepal. Because of the lower elevation than kathmandu, Pokhara is much warmer than Kathmandu.

The monsoon season starts from mid June to September. Pokhara records the higest rainfall in the country. From climatic point of view, Pokhara is enjoyable all year round but if you want to do the trekking it is best to visit Pokhara from the month of October to April.It is also easy to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu. There are few options to reach Pokhara easily either you can go by air or by land.

By bus it only takes 7 hours (in normal traffic) and by air you can reach Pokhara in 30 minutes. The tourist bus is the best option to reach Pokhara. The bus leaves from Kantipath, which is near Thamel (another touristic place in Kathmandu).Pokhara has become a big tourist hub in Nepal. Pokhara is the most visited tourist destination in Nepal.

Pokhara is famous because of the magnificent views of the central Himalayas, the Annapurna, Machhapuchhare (Fishtail), Manaslu, Fewa Tal, Davis Fall, Mahendra Cave, Bat Cave, Gupteshwor Cave and many other attractions for which Pokhara is famous for. Pokhara city offers a combination of nature and culture with a distict tourist.

Pokhara is also known as starting and ending point for the famous Annapurna and Jomsom treks. Pokhara is the land of hard working farmers and the warriors who are known worldwide as Gurkha soldiers. The people who stays here in Pokhara are mostly Magars and Gurungs.
