Kempty Falls - Mussorie
Falling in the middle of Dehradun and Mussorie the Kempty Falls are the major attraction.The area of Kempty Falls was developed by John Mekinan in the year 1835.The name Kempty is derived from the word Camp Tea as Britishers would organize their Tea Parties here.The falls drop drown at an astounding height of 4500 ft.Splitting into five other cascades the water further falls down 40 ft giving the appearance of water jumping on the rocks below.It looks as if the water is playing with the rocks.Another 12 kms down the Hill and the waters of the Kempty reach the legendary waters of Yamuna River.
Situated on the Hilly tracks of Uttaranchal the Kempty Falls are stunningly beautiful.The Falls are a good place for picnic or for spending a couple of hours listening to the music of water in the midst of the Greenery which cover the surroundings of the Kempty Falls.However staying here is not at all a good idea as there are not any tourist camps or cottages.Kempty falls are best seen while en route to Mussoorie from Dehradun or from Mussoorie to Dehradun.
Kempty falls are closed for visitors during monsoon and winters.It is open from March to July.

Kempty Falls are also a good place for Trekking.Various Trekking Camps are held from Mussoorie to Kempty Falls covering a trek of 13 kms.
2.Camels Back Road :-
This road got its name because of the mountain outcrop around the road which makes the shape of a Camel Hump.This Hump is also known for the Mussorie Public School.The School is one of the best Boarding Schools of India.
How To Reach Kempty Falls :-
Kempty Falls can be reached by hiring taxi or bus from Dehradun or Mussoorie.It is 15 Km from Mussoorie and 20 Km from Dehradun. Dehradun is the nearest rail head as well as airport.
