Harnai Fort or suvarnadurga, it's the port in harnai which is from last more than 400 years. The highlight of this fort is that, their is sea water all around the fort, but inside the fort there are 7 lakes which are of sweet water. you can see only 6 lake, but7th lake you can't see all around world the people come to see the Harnai sunset point,4 fort which are, 1 suvarnadurga,2lamp house.3harnai port and 4fattegad.

Suvarnadurg Fort, also known as Harnai Bunder, lies off the beautiful Harnai coast. It is a small sea port built by great emperor Shivaji to effectively counter the attacks by Sindhis. Of late the fort had been converted to a ship building port in Maharashtra.

The Fort was exceptional in its appearance; most of the parts are in ruins. It brings the remembrance of the construction abilities of Maratha architects. It is a fort visited by many tourists, especially those who are fond of architecture, history and archeology.

The area around has a number of temples that are significant locally (e.g. Anjarle Ganapati temple) and guests may also do a bit of Dolphin spotting and Para sailing (Weather permitting). Visiting forts, local port and fish market could be interesting. All in all Murud Harnai offers a getaway with simple stays, a bit of activities, bit of rural experience and a bit of temple visits / sightseeing.

Dapoli is the base town to visit Murud-Harnai which is an idyllic beach front at 240 kms from Mumbai and about 200+ kms from Pune. Here stay are simpler and more like homestays and less like resorts and the entire area is characterized by long stretch of idyllic beaches. Famous Dabhol power plant is across the jetty.

South of old Harnai fort, the palm-fringed beach of Murud is famous for its clean, white sands and safe waters. Visit the Goa Killa or Harnai Fort, which is built on different levels. See Panhale Kazi, the famous rock-cut monument, 30 kms. from Murud-Harnai.

How to Reach :-

Nearest railhead is Khed, 45 kms. on Konkan Rly.
Mumbai-Murud-Harnai, 246 kms via Panvel-Pen-Lonere Phata-Dapoli.
State Transport buses ply from Mumbai, Pune, Mahad to Murud-Harnai.
