Aruvikkara dam is located on the banks of the river Karamana. It is an important picnic spot that is located in Thiruvananthapuram district. This place is very beautiful and is famous for the greenery around here. There is a Durga temple nearby that is constructed on top of a rock. There is a stream flowing beside it that has abundant fishes in it. The visitors throw food crumbs to these fishes. These fishes are considered as sacred and people believe that feeding them can cure their ailments such as skin diseases. Near the reservoir boating facilities are available. A major portion of the water that is supplied in this city is from this reservoir.
