Akkulam Lake, sometimes referred as Akkulam Tourist Village, is a popular backwater tourist destination situated around 10 km from Thiruvananthapuram city in Kerala. Akkulam Lake is an extension of Veli Lake and Akkulam Tourist Village is spread out on a sand bar that separates the Veli Lagoon from the Arabian Sea. The Akkulam Tourist Village is constructed where the native lagoon merges with the Arabian Sea and the area is dotted with fish ponds, wading pools and beautiful landscaped gardens. The city aims at constructing a musical dance fountain with Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the background.

Akkulam is just 3 km from Ulloor Junction in Trivandrum. Being a major tourist place in Thiruvananthapuram, Akkulam is well connected by road. Buses from East Fort and Thampanoor bus stations ply to Ulloor.
Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station (8 km) is the nearest major railhead.
Trivandrum International Airport is around 12 km from Akkulam Tourist Village.
